Last Day of School - Monday, June 24th
Dismissal at 3:40 pm

The East Ridge office will be closed the month of July.

Summer office hours: 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Beginning Monday August 12th.

The end of the school year is almost here! As we say goodbye to everyone in the coming weeks, we hope you take away wonderful memories of the amazing learning and fun connections you made throughout this year.

We have two end of year assemblies scheduled:

Awards Assembly (Grades 3-5 attend): Thursday, June 20th at 10:15 am. At this assembly, we will be recognizing students who participated in leadership, extra-curricular activities, and recognizing students who have been awarded the District CP Johnson Humanitarian Award, the East Ridge Friendship Award, and the East Ridge Courtesy Award. Families are welcome to attend.

End of Year Assembly (K-5 attend): Monday, June 24th at 1:20 pm. At this assembly, we will recognize staff and students who are leaving our school. A favorite part of this assembly is also our wonderful slideshow of pictures, produced by PTA. Lastly, we will honor our 5th graders with the traditional procession through the gym, through the “tunnel” of teachers. We will then celebrate our “new” 5th graders (current 4th graders) by allowing them to “move up” into the 5th grade assembly chair spots. 5th grade families are encouraged to attend. All families are welcome.

Moving to Timbercrest Middle School:

BBQ Lunch

Our annual end of the year BBQ lunch will be held on Friday, June 14th. Students will have their choice of hamburger or veggie burger with all the Burger Fixin’s, watermelon, potato salad, veggies, potato chips, and milk.

Field Day June 20th

Field day is just around the corner and we need your help! The kids look forward to this event and we need lots of hands to make it happen. We need volunteers to set up, run stations, and clean up. It is a super fun event, so please consider helping. Contact Flic Chastney or Danielle Rank at vpevents@erpta.org for details.

Bank-a-Meal Due June 24th

Did you know all Bank-a-Meal balances automatically roll into next year? Fifth graders who remain in the Northshore School District can expect their accounts to follow them to their middle school and be available on the first day of school. A family leaving the district may apply for an account refund either online or in the school office.
Please be sure you do not leave a negative balance on your child’s account.
Please do not put money on your child’s account or bring money after June 24th. If you have questions, please contact Cheryl Lichttenegger at 425.408.4408.
Cheryl thanks you for another wonderful year here at East Ridge!

Medication Return

Please plan to pick up your student’s medication in the health room the week of June 18th. Leftover medication will be discarded. A new medication authorization form is needed each year. Please note: Students with life threatening conditions need to have the paperwork and medication in the health room BEFORE school starts.

Student Absences/ Vacations

With the end of the school year fast approaching, many families leave a few days early for summer vacations. If your plans take your student out of school early, please let the office know, as well as your teacher by filling out a Pre-Approved Absence Request Form.

Amazing PTA Art Docents!

Thank you to all of our amazing art docents who have helped create an amazing art program here at East Ridge. This year, most classes had the opportunity to create clay projects, fused glass, and create prints using either block or screen printing techniques. We are so fortunate to have such a rich and diverse art program. Thank you to Heather Burke and Danielle Wheeler for heading up this incredibly gifted group of volunteers!

Congratulations PTA Golden Acorn Winners!

Congratulations to this year’s Golden Acorn winners! The accomplishments by these individuals speak volumes about the strong character and sense of community that is hard at work amongst us. A heartfelt thank you to everyone that was nominated. The East Ridge Golden Acorn Award winners are: Cari Johnson, Flic Chastney, Mitchell Zimberg and Lori Burkman!

Congratulations and thank you so much for all that you do to make our student’s experience wonderful! We will be honoring these volunteers at our Volunteer Breakfast on Thursday, June 13th.

Are you moving?

If your family is planning to move out of the East Ridge service area over the summer vacation, PLEASE let the office know as soon as possible. This will help us to have a more accurate enrollment count as well as make our preliminary placement and balancing of the class/student groupings as accurate as possible.

Lost & Found

Come explore our lost and found! There are many articles of clothing and accessories waiting to be claimed. Please retrieve your child’s belongings as unclaimed articles will be donated at the end of the school year to Threads & Treads.

Report Cards

The final report card will be mailed for each student this year on Friday, June 28th. If you have a change of address, please notify the school office as soon as possible, so that you’ll receive your report card and/or any other mailings that will come out in August. The supply list for the 2019-20 school year will be posted on the East Ridge website.

Kindergarten Start 2019-2020

The beginning of the 2019-2020 school year will be a “staggered start” for kindergartners.  In a staggered start, half of the students attend school on September 9, and half on September 10. September 11,  will be the first day students attend together for the first time.
Staggering the start of school allows kindergarteners to make a smoother transition to K-12 schooling.  Students are better able to learn the routine of their class and get to know their teacher in smaller groups, setting them up from the beginning to feel more comfortable, confident, and excited about school.
Also, your kindergarten teacher will be contacting you this summer to schedule a 20 – 30 minute family conference. These WAKids Conferences will take place between September 4-6.

Immunizations Needed

Kindergartners:  Incoming kindergartners are required to have 2 MMR (Mumps, Measles & Rubella) immunizations prior to September 2014. Other immunizations currently required include:
At least 4 DPT/DT, the last after age 4
At least 3 Polio, the last after age 4
Hepatitis B series (3 immunizations)
K-5 Students: Students need 2 doses Varicella or have health care provider verify the student had the disease.
5th Graders: Before your students can enter the sixth grade, in accordance with state guidelines, they will also need the Tdap vaccine if they are 11 or older. Feel free to call the health room at 425.408.4406 and talk with Nurse Gerry.
