Safety Drills
On Friday, October 28th we will have an earthquake practice drill. Children will drop, hold and cover - drop to the ground, get under and hold onto the leg of a desk, table or chair with one hand, cover the back of their necks with the other hand, and hold on until the drill ends. We will then evacuate to their lines on the play field.
Talk to your child about earthquakes and practice what you will do at home. This website has games children can play to better understand steps to take in a disaster. https://www.ready.gov/kids ((Not) Just for Kids)
It also has a section for parents to make a plan with their families.

Fall Celebrations
At the end of the month, some classrooms may be holding Fall celebrations. Your child’s teacher will be providing details of the celebration. With all the excitement and creativity, we are asking everyone to be sensitive to the wide range of cultural and religious traditions of our students and staff. Please also remember that children who choose to wear costumes need to keep safety and appropriateness in mind. Anything resembling a weapon, fake blood/wounds, or degrading of another person, race, or culture is not allowed.
Reminder: if volunteering for fall parties, a volunteer application is required prior to the event. https://eastridge.nsd.org/resources/volunteer
Lost & Found
With the weather finally changing we’ve had lots of coats and jackets left behind on the playground. It is getting rainy and wet, so please take a look and see if any of these belong to your student. They’re hanging on the fence on the way down to the playground. There is also a rack in front of the school with more items. Please check to see if any belong to your family.

Women in STEM Tutoring
Two years ago, the Women in STEM Club from Woodinville High School started an online tutoring program to support kids through the difficult learning environment created by the pandemic. Parents could sign up their kids for free online tutoring in nearly every subject, and both the tutors and students loved being able to socialize safely while also getting ahead in school. This year, by popular demand, they are rebooting the program! It will still be virtual, with the sessions being held on Zoom as often as you'd like. If you'd like to sign your child up, please fill out the Google Form, and feel free to email them at wise.club.whs.tutoring@gmail.com if you have any questions!
COVID Communication
The Department of Health (DOH) requires schools to inform families and students about COVID-19 case numbers and potential outbreaks. Last week, there were no confirmed cases at our school. The accuracy of our data depends on self-reporting. Thank you for continuing to let the school know if your child tests positive for COVID-19. To view additional information, including school and district trends visit the District’s COVID-19 data dashboard. The dashboard is updated weekly on Monday evenings.
If your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 keep them home and test for COVID-19. Families can order free COVID-19 tests from the state. Together, we can keep our schools healthy and safe.
