Fall Parent Teacher Conferences

Fall Conferences

Dear East Ridge Family,

We look forward to welcoming you for a Fall Conference with your child's teacher November 17th-23rd. Prior to your upcoming conference, you will receive your child’s First Quarter Progress Report. The report will come home in your child's backpack. This report is one of many ways we communicate student progress with families.

On the report, teachers will mark whether a student is currently performing at standard in ReadingWriting, and Math with a Y for “yes” or an N for “not at this time". The report also contains a section on “Behaviors that Promote Student Learning.” In this section, teachers will mark if a student exhibits each of these learning behaviors “Consistently,” “Often,” “Sometimes” or “Rarely”.

The Fall Conference is one of the most important milestones during the school year because caregivers and teachers have time to discuss each child's strengths, progress, goals, and strategies for building success. Although teachers will have much to share about your child, we hope you will also share insights you believe will be helpful to your child’s success this year - we are here to listen as well as share.

I hope your fall conference is informative and purposeful, and that it will reinforce a strong partnership for your child’s success this year.

Sincerely,

Sarah White

COVID Communication

The Department of Health (DOH) requires schools to inform families and students about COVID-19 case numbers and potential outbreaks. Last week, there was one confirmed case at our school. The accuracy of our data depends on self-reporting. Thank you for continuing to let the school know if your child tests positive for COVID-19. To view additional information, including school and district trends visit the District’s COVID-19 data dashboard. The dashboard is updated weekly on Monday evenings.

If your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 keep them home and test for COVID-19. Families can order free COVID-19 tests from the state. Together, we can keep our schools healthy and safe.

Ready Start Program

The Ready Start program is a blended multi-age, inclusive model, serving students, ages 3 – 5.

We are currently enrolling at both locations (Sorenson and Woodmoor Elementary) for the 22/23 school year. Classrooms are taught and supported by a general education teacher, a special education teacher, and a para-professional. Inclusive classrooms create a dynamic learning environment for all students. The average class size is 16 students, with class make-up of 8 students with Individual Education Program, 4 students who pay tuition, and 4 students who are income eligible. Classrooms utilize The Creative Curriculum & Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessment Tool. The staff is committed to fostering student learning and cultivating friendships while creating a sense of community for our students. Utilizing developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to support a whole child approach to learning an inclusive environment, fosters high levels of student learning and social and emotional growth for all students.

The application can be found on the Northshore School District website @ https://www1.nsd.org/schools/programs-services/early-childhood/ready-start-tuition-program or contact Sorenson at (425) 408-5570.
