New Reports for Students using Chromebooks

We wanted to share with you about a new report that families of children who use Chromebooks will begin receiving soon. Beginning the weekend of Nov 7/8th, family members listed in Synergy with contact and educational rights privileges will begin receiving a weekly email report regarding their student’s(s’) use of the internet on district devices, which are filtered by a tool called Lightspeed Relay. This report provides information about when the internet was accessed, the terms used in the top searches, the urls of the top websites visited, and which websites were blocked to that student. This report is intended to provide families with a look at internet usage, but does not provide a deeper dive beyond what is shown in the email report.

An example report is shown in the picture below.

Filtering is based on categories that represent large portions of content on the internet. The profiles that specify which categories are filtered are based on grade-level groups. While minut profile adjustments are not possible, please reach out to the school office if you feel like you need help supporting your student’s(s’) responsible academic use of the internet on their district device.

Many routers and hotspots can provide a level of filtering that is controllable at the home-network level. Information about these utilities is often found on the website of the router/hotspot manufacturer or internet service provider.

Materials Pickup Day!

Way to go East Ridge! We had a great turnout for the materials pickup day last Friday. The weather turned nice for us and it was so fun to see all the costumes! We miss you and it was so great to see you! If you did not pick up your materials on Friday, you can call the East Ridge office at 425-408-4400 to make arrangements for pick up.

Honoring Our Veterans

Most years, East Ridge has a special assembly to honor our Veterans. This year, we will be having a virtual celebration which will include music, poems and a sing along led by our Choir and fifth grade classes. The video of this event will be shared during Music classes the week of November 9th.

After School Enrichment Classes

Socialize with classmates in after-school enrichment activities: NSD has partnered with 6crickets to curate specialized virtual enrichment classes from quality providers throughout the nation on a variety of topics, including visual and performing arts, STEM, entrepreneurship, and world languages. This is a great opportunity for students to socialize with classmates and have fun learning the topics that they love!
