Winter Road Conditions
Many families reached out to us after the last snow storm with concerns about road safety and the impact on students and staff safety when getting to school. If you are interested in supporting our efforts to advocate for higher-priority service from the King County Roads Division during inclement weather, here is a list of the roads leading to East Ridge and the King County contact information:

Kindergarten Registration Is Now Open!
Kindergarten registration for fall has opened. Please register your student ASAP and encourage your friends and neighbors who have kindergarten-age children to register. The earlier families register, the earlier we can secure the number of kindergarten teachers we need!
Registration is online at: https://www.nsd.org/schools/get-started/enrollment.
To enter kindergarten, your student must be five years old on or before August 31, 2023. If you have questions, please call the office at 425.408.4400.
East Ridge will host a virtual Kindergarten Information Night in May.
Nurses Corner
From Nurse Gerry: Welcome back from Mid-winter break. I hope you all had a good break. There are still viruses out there causing respiratory and stomach illnesses. Hopefully, we will start to see a decrease soon.
When to keep your child home:
-
Your child tests positive for COVID.
-
A temperature, taken orally, that is 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, is considered a fever. Children should be fever-free, without fever reducing medication, for at least 24 hours before sending them to school.

Anytime a child vomits or has diarrhea, he/she needs to be isolated from other children for 24 hours. If your child vomits or has diarrhea in the night, keep him/her home from school the following day.

Any rash of unknown cause should be considered contagious. Please have your child examined by a healthcare provider to determine the cause and communicability of the rash before sending him/her to school. The child may not return to school unless there is a letter from the medical professional stating that the rash is not communicable in nature, or unless the rash is no longer present.

Do not send cough drops, throat lozenges, or any other over the counter medication to school with your child. Cough drops, throat lozenges, ointments and creams are considered a medication (by the state OSPI) and require a completed medication authorization form in order to have these at school. Sending a note for the nurse is not enough.

COVID Communication
The Department of Health (DOH) requires schools to inform families and students about COVID-19 case numbers and potential outbreaks. Last week, there was no confirmed cases at our school. The accuracy of our data depends on self-reporting. Thank you for continuing to let the school know if your child tests positive for COVID-19. To view additional information, including school and district trends visit the District’s COVID-19 data dashboard. The dashboard is updated weekly on Monday evenings.
If your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 keep them home and test for COVID-19. Families can order free COVID-19 tests from the state. Together, we can keep our schools healthy and safe.
