Kindergarten and new student registration for the 2021-2022 school year has opened.
Registration is online at: https://www.nsd.org/schools/get-started/enrollment.
Children entering kindergarten in September 2021 should have turned five years old by August 31, 2021. More information about starting kindergarten can be found on the kindergarten website.
To register your child, you will need the following documents:
-
Proof of residency (rental agreement, utility bill, mortgage statement)

Your child's birth certificate, passport or other proof of birthdate
-
Immunization records
-
Names and phone numbers of emergency contacts
-
Latest report card (not for kindergartners)
Parent Schoology Groups
We are working on establishing Parent Connection Groups in Schoology for each grade level. The purpose of these groups would be to give parents the opportunity to connect and communicate. Some parents who join the group might choose to organize/host social ZOOMS or interest-based Zooms for students in the class/grade. Our ASB (student leadership) may also ask these parents to help them set up student social zoom times for specific grades or grade bands. Participation in the group would be optional. (Any parent who offers to host something for students must be background-checked as a volunteer). It is important to understand that this Parent Connection Schoology group is NOT a:
-
Forum for complaints about District policy or procedure (these should be brought to Mike Bailey at mbailey@nsd.org )
-
Forum related to performance of District staff (those should be brought to the appropriate District or school representative)
-
Place for discussions inconsistent with the intent of the Group
-
A place for any behaviors inconsistent with District policies or procedures (such as the Technology Use Policy and Procedure, 2022/2022P)
-
A place to ask questions of the classroom teacher. The classroom teacher will not be a part of this group.
We are looking for a lead parent for each grade. The Parent Lead would fill out a district request form to have the group created in Schoology (Mrs. White would create the group for us once the request form is approved at the district level). The main role of the parent lead would be to initiate and moderate the Schoology group, including inviting members of the class/grade to join. Mrs. White will provide training for the leads for how to use the Schoology Group.
Please email Mrs. White at swhite@nsd.org if you are willing to be a Lead for your child’s grade. Thank you!

Free Books from Northshore Schools Foundation
With public libraries closed, access to books is very limited for some children. There are two ways to get books. In addition to the District's Books on the Bus program, books are also provided by a dedicated group of generous volunteers, District family liaisons and the Northshore Schools Foundation. They have come together with community support to provide books to students free of cost. If your student needs new books, please click the button below.

East Ridge Keeps Playing
This week’s game is Animals in Action. The social/emotional learning skill is Perspective Taking – Identifying, acknowledging, and understanding the emotions of others. This week’s brain break activity is “What are you Doing?” Teachers may be using these in class activities, and these are also activities kids and families can do for fun or for breaks at home. Thank you PTA for these great resources!
Northshore Sings: 5th Grade Honor Choir
Dear Parents and Families,
Northshore fifth graders are invited to participate in this year’s Northshore School District Northshore Sings! 5th Grade All-District Choir. This year, the event will be held virtually over two evenings on Tuesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 4 from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM on “Zoom.” This is a FREE two-night event and a great way to have students from all across the district come together to sing, meet NSD middle school choir students, and get to know the choir directors of the schools they will be attending next year.
Students will be preparing two songs in their school music class and/or choir. During the event, Middle School Choir teachers will lead the rehearsals and share games and other activities. The event will culminate with a sing-a-long on Thursday, March 4.
Registration for Northshore Sings! 5th Grade All-District Choir will be through a digital form that must be opened with your child’s district apps.nsd.org email account. This is to ensure that the zoom link is sent to authenticated NSD accounts only. The zoom link will be sent out prior to the March 2 rehearsal. Below is the link to the permission form. The registration deadline is Friday, February 12.

We believe this will be a very exciting experience for your child; and we appreciate your interest, support, and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Aly Henniger, 5th Grade Northshore Sings Coordinator

February Trait: OPTIMISM
Optimism Definition: Feeling hopeful that risks are worth taking and that problems will work their way out. Looking on the bright side - focusing on the positive instead of the negative. When you do something new, you think, "I can try," and give it your best shot because that's how you grow.

ERPTA seeking President and VP of Events!
Our dear and amazing Lillie Linville is sitting as acting president, but has already exceeded her 2 year term limit and needs to be replaced per our bylaws. We need a new President ASAP to relieve her of her duties! You will have tons of fun with our board and lots and lots of support!
Our VP of Events changed schools recently and we are in need of someone to fill this important and fun board position! As with everything PTA, this position is very flexible this year and will reflect the current needs and remote design of activities. Do you have some great ideas of how we can raise morale, stay connected, and help our kids get the most out of this unique year? We need your help to see it through!
Email president@erpta.org with questions!

Meeting Zoom link, if it doesn't let you in with your email you can use your students NSD email login and even if they are on a zoom, you can be on this one logged in as them too.
