COVID Batch-Testing

Last week, you received communication from the Northshore School District regarding COVID testing occurring for all students in grades 2-12 beginning this week. Testing for hybrid group A will be Tuesday this week, and Monday every week after that. Testing for hybrid group B will be every Friday. Please read this information and then follow the links provided to either provide consent or opt out.

You can go to this site to provide your consent for your child to take a COVID test. When you sign up, you will be asked to submit a unique code for East Ridge:

This code above is unique to our school and will allow us to know which students and staff are participating in this important method of keeping COVID cases low and school buildings open. Last week, four of our Northshore elementary schools piloted the batch testing program and everything went smoothly.

Please read through the letter you received from the district for details. A few key points to emphasize:

  • Students in Grades 2-12 can test

  • Your child will only be tested if you give your consent at this link

  • To opt out your child, click on this link

  • If a student or staff member is opted out of testing, but their classroom cohort has a positive COVID test result, they will still be required to quarantine for 14 days

Here is a link to a slide deck with more information about our district testing process.

Car Drop-off and Pick Upstudent drop off and pickup street sign

Thank you for your patience in the morning and afternoon! Here are some ways you can help:

  • Complete the daily health check before 8:30am.

  • If you have child locks on your car doors, please unlock your doors immediately when arriving at the curb, so staff can open the door quickly

  • Your child should be able to operate their seatbelt without adult assistance

  • Your child should be ready to exit the vehicle with mask on and all of their belongings gathered

  • Your child should exit the vehicle on the passenger side

  • The passenger side of your vehicle should be free from objects that will fall out when the door opens

  • Your child should be able to put on and carry their own backpack

  • Drivers must stay in their vehicle

  • At the end of the day, we dismiss sibling groups at 3:17. If you are picking up more than one child, arrive in the pick up line early, if possible

  • Have your family sign clearly visible on the visor or passenger side, so staff can see it from a distance

PLEASE!! Give our bus drivers the right of way. Please leave the exit from the bus lane clear as you are waiting in the pick up line from the Saybrook side. Do not block them when they are trying to leave.

Thanks for your help!

East Ridge Keeps Playing

This week’s game is Iron Lungs. The SEL skill is Cooperation – When two or more people work together to complete a goal. For cooperation to work, everyone has to be an active member of the team. This week’s Brain Break is Up, Down, Stop, Go. Thank you, PTA for these resources!

Self-reflection is the habit of deliberately paying attention to your own thoughts, emotions, decisions, and behaviors. Here's a typical example: ... We periodically reflect back on an event and how we handled it in hopes that we learn something from it and make better decisions in the future.
