COVID Communication

Dear East Ridge Parent or Guardian,

In support of school community safety, it is our goal to provide strong communication. This includes notification of any positive COVID test of a person at our school. I am writing to inform you that three persons in our school recently tested positive. If a person who tested positive is in your child's class, you received a separate email.

The individuals with COVID-19 will not be able to return to school until after their contagious period has passed. This period is 5 days after the start of symptoms and 24 hours after fever and symptoms improve without the use of medications. The individual will be required to wear a mask at school on days 6-10 (unless they receive a negative rapid antigen test).

You can find Northshore School District COVID information here.

It is recommended that all families continue to monitor their child for symptoms of COVID-19. If your child develops symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider and ask that your child receive testing for COVID-19. Testing is also available for NSD students with symptoms at Pop Keeney Stadium: click here for hour and appointment information.

We understand receiving information about positive cases can cause concern for families. We continue to implement consistent safety protocols at East Ridge in support of the well-being of our students, staff, and families. We appreciate your ongoing partnership and trust in this effort.

Kind Regards,

Sarah White
Principal/COVID Supervisor
East Ridge Elementary

Spring SBA State Testing

Spring SBA State Testing

Spring is the time of year when our schools administer state required assessments. These assessments are used for state and federal accountability, to monitor student progress toward grade level standards, as well as an option for high school students to meet their Graduation Pathways requirement. The English/Language Arts (ELA) and math Smarter Balanced Assessments are administered in grades 3 through 8 and 10, while the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) is administered in grades 5, 8, and 11.

East Ridge SBA Testing Schedule

3rd Grade

5/24 & 5/26

4th Grade

5/31 & 6/1

5th Grade

5/24 & 5/26

As we want each student to perform at their best, we encourage students to get good sleep and nutrition during these times. It is also important for families to minimize student absences during the testing schedule.

If you have any questions about your child’s fall assessments or schedules, please feel free to contact Tiffany Dial at tdial@nsd.org.

Opportunity for Fun!

East Ridge PTA needs your help! It has been wonderful to be back in person this year and to be able to start holding some of our fun, annual community events again. We are currently looking for a VP of Events to help work with others to plan various activities throughout the year like Fall Festival, Movie Night, Field Day or any other fun ideas you may have! The job can be shared if you know someone you'd like to work with for this role. If you have any interest or want to find out more, please email saravhoward@gmail.com. This is a fun role and an amazing community to plan events for, so please reach out!
